UPCYCLING WORKSHOPS 2: WALLETS

UPCYCLING WORKSHOPS 2: WALLETS

Following the success of last year’s wallet-making session, DYVÓLAB reintroduced one of its most requested workshops in 2026, bringing participants together once again to explore the creative potential of everyday plastic bags.

Reimagining Plastic Through Craft

This workshop focused on giving new life to single-use plastic bags by transforming them into durable, functional wallets. What is often seen as waste became the foundation for something practical, encouraging participants to rethink how materials can be repurposed in thoughtful and innovative ways.

From Soft Layers to Structured Design

Using a sheet press machine, attendees learned how to fuse layers of plastic through a combination of heat and pressure. This process created a stronger, fabric-like material that could be cut, folded, and stitched into wallet forms. Each step introduced new techniques, allowing participants to experiment with textures, colors, and patterns.

Hands-On Learning and Exchange

The sessions brought together individuals from different backgrounds, each contributing their own ideas and approaches. The workshop created space for curiosity and shared discovery, where participants could learn not only from the process but also from one another.

Function Meets Creativity

As the workshop progressed, simple sheets of fused plastic evolved into a variety of unique wallets. Some designs were minimal and sleek, while others played with bold color combinations and layered effects. Every finished piece reflected a balance between usability and personal expression.

Continuing the Journey of Upcycling

This returning workshop highlighted how familiar materials can be transformed into something both meaningful and long-lasting. By combining practical skills with creative thinking, participants were able to turn discarded plastic bags into everyday items with a renewed sense of value.
