K·AIE GROUP

As part of the first edition of the Open Lab Days 2026, the K•AIE group has worked on a product that facilitates the reuse of upcycled bags. Through the use of machinery and our creative program, Erona Kelmendi, Ilda Muhović and Adnit Hoxha have realized a project that stems from reflection on our daily habits, and especially on the excessive use of plastic bags in supermarkets.

The project has been finalized with a practical and original solution: the creation of reusable bags using the fabric of broken umbrellas that are no longer used. To transform this material into a functional product, the participants used a sewing machine, giving shape and durability to the new bags through textile upcycling techniques. These bags are designed in such a way that they can be collected and inserted into a keychain, thus becoming a compact accessory that can be carried with you every day.

To create this holder, the team used a 3D printer and 3D design software, creating an aesthetic holder that allows for easy bag packaging. This process shows how modern technology can help increase the functionality of upcycled products. This work demonstrates how waste can be turned into a useful tool, promoting a more sustainable lifestyle and offering a concrete response to plastic pollution through innovation and smart design.
