RAY CHAIR

As part of the second edition of the Open Lab Days 2026, Prentina Rama is developing “RAY CHAIR”, a children's chair that explores the potential of sustainable design through digital design and fabrication processes.

Throughout the project, Prentina has utilized CAD software, specifically AutoCAD, to model and refine the chair’s design, allowing her to test proportions, dimensions, and structural details before moving into physical production. The chair components are then manufactured using the laboratory’s laser cutting technology, ensuring high precision while minimizing material waste during the fabrication process.

“RAY CHAIR” is conceived as a sustainable product, built without the use of adhesives, artificial materials, or other non-durable synthetic components. The project also places a strong emphasis on ergonomics, aiming to provide comfort, support, and safety for children while maintaining a clean and functional aesthetic.

By combining digital design tools with advanced fabrication technologies, Prentina’s project demonstrates how everyday products can be created according to zero-waste principles, without compromising durability, usability, or visual appeal.
